Fashion Week Follow-Up
At the risk of sounding redundant, Monarchy Collection’s fall 2009 collection served up a second helping of the leather-clad “tough girl” look that I so loved at Charlotte Ronson. Although Monarchy also incorporated plaid, the effect it had was completely different: In contrast to the laid-back, boyfriend vibe of Ronson’s collection, this one had a restricted air about it, reminiscent of military or equestrian getups. This was achieved using darker colored tartans and by incorporating details such as a double breast on a jacket or a high neck on a blouse.


The flavor was worked into the men’s collection, as well, finished with neckties and vests and resulting in a sophisticated and authoritative look. Whether you’re staying in the office or heading out and about, sharp looks like this are sure to have ladies everywhere snapping to attention:
